No! Although many of our clients are over 50, empty-nesters, or are preparing for a downsize, we work with many people regardless of age, stage of life, family size, or unique circumstances. During our initial consultation call, we will determine if there is a good fit between our skills and your household management, relocation, or organizing needs and goals. If we do not have expertise in a particular area, we can often find someone in our network of professionals to whom we can refer you.
Depending on the duration, scope, and complexity of the engagement, we may charge by the hour, month or project. Please refer to our Pricing page for more information. Some services require a paid onsite initial consultation and from there we would determine the right mix of services and a rate structure. For people who aren't ready to commit to a longer engagement but want an extra set of hands to help with decluttering, a basic 3-hour in-home session is a great starting point.
You may want to have spare boxes and large garbage or paper bags on hand for the decluttering phase. Whether you need additional organizing trays, drawer dividers, bins, furnishings/shelving, organizing systems and so forth will depend on what you already own, your style preferences, and your budget. Together we will determine what, if any, organizing products would be of benefit. The goal is to help make the most out of the storage you already own or have built into the house, so in many cases you won't need to buy anything.
Absolutely! Even though we encourage whole-home organizing and reviewing all belongings in a particular category (i.e. ALL your clothes, not just the ones in the closet or bedroom), it's completely fine - and sometimes makes more sense - to focus on just one space at a time.
Home Organizing is not the same as Interior Design, but there is a lot of overlap. Just getting your spaces more organized will improve the look and feel of your home. We often move furniture around, possibly remove excess furniture that impedes organizing, and we'll "shop" other rooms in your home to move storage solutions (like bins and baskets) that work better in another area of the home.
If our focus is only on organizing, we don't come up with a cohesive plan for colors, new furnishings, new fixtures or decor. If your walls are a color you don't like or your design style is undefined or no longer suits your tastes, home organizing won't directly address that. But it will clear the spaces and make room for a new interior design aesthetic to emerge and become more refined, more you, as a result of organizing.
To take your spaces to the next level, we offer separate redesign services to revamp the interior design of your spaces.
While Household Management includes the development and implementation of home organizing systems, it is a much more in-depth and usually long-term engagement. Depending on the client's needs, household management will often include a Personal Assistant component (scheduling, errands, etc.), ongoing hands-on maintenance of the home's systems and organization, light housekeeping, light food prep, coordinating services and so on.
Intentional living is a lifestyle that embraces ordinary, day-to-day life in an extraordinary way: with naturalness, simplicity, contentment, harmony, kindness and compassion. It is a lifestyle approach aligned to values that are not based on striving for externals (fame or status, wealth, possessions, etc.), but are intrinsically motivated such as generosity, patience, and right action. Intentional Living is about having an impact that benefits all beings.
In 2013 Vicki was trained as a consultant in Form School Feng Shui by Dr. Shan-Tung Hsu of the Blue Mountain Institute. This approach to feng shui focuses on the flow of life force energy in a space. It is especially intuitive, practical, and complementary to most home organizing approaches.
The aspects of feng shui that are evaluated as part of any home organizing project include:
Although we do not offer a separate consulting service for this, the method of feng shui practiced by Vicki is seamlessly interwoven into her approach to home organizing and management.
