A room with the right layout and a great design makes you feel amazing. It not only looks and feels good: great layouts and the right furniture - even in small spaces - optimize how you use the space while incorporating a system that keeps everything organized and easily accessible.

This closet didn't have the worst layout, especially as it had to accommodate sliding doors plus a water heater and plumbing off to the left. However, it had zero space for long hanging clothes, which the owner desperately needed. The other problems were primarily organizational ones: an oversized laundry bin, workout gear on both sides of the closet, shoes stored on both sides of the closet, and a lot of miscellaneous stuff being stored on the top shelves. It was okay, but not nearly as useful as it could be.

We decided to work with the existing closet system. We gained more space by doing a decluttering session and ditched the large laundry bin in favor of a basket in the nearby laundry closet. Then we designated the wire shelving side for shoes and removed 2 shelves to create the desired long hanging space. With some creative reorganizing, consolidating workout stuff, new hangers, and pull-out accessory racks, the owner now has a closet that functions brilliantly!

Food can quickly get 'lost' when stuffed in cabinets or stored randomly, not keeping the same categories of contents in the same place. You end up wasting food and buying duplicates - wasting money. Kitchen appliances that are stored in multiple, often hard to access, places also make meal prep a real pain. This is one project where we helped the client create a functional and organized pantry and storage system that reduces waste and makes cooking and cleanup easy peasy.

To turn a "dumping ground" into a high-functioning walk-in pantry and kitchen appliance zone, we made these changes: painted, relocated a spice rack (from the adjacent laundry room), replaced the broken built-in desk with cabinets and a new countertop, added a second shelf in the newly designated appliance zone, added the maximum amount of wire shelving we could fit on one side of the space, and reorganized the food. Voila! Everything is visible and easy to access.

Too often, bedrooms end up being a place where laundry, projects and "to-do's", and things we simply don't know what to do with all pile up. This can be especially true if the bedroom serves as a dual zone such as for work, handling household paperwork, storing books, storing memorabilia, working out, or caring for loved ones. And messy bedrooms usually mean more stress and poor sleep.

  Bedrooms are ideally a place where we get to recharge and relax.  We can help you prioritize what stays in the space, organize it into a maintainable system, and elevate how the space looks and feels. 

What a joy to be able to fall into bed not surrounded by or covered in clutter and have a restful sleep at the end of each day!
